Here's the truth behind the Tiger Woods scandal

From www.pheedcontent.com:

"I'm happily married and I still go through it now," NFL tight end Tony Gonzalez shared with me Wednesday. "Right or wrong, it's an expectation that guys have, whether it's your teammates or the friends you've had all your life. They want you to go out because they think, 'Man, you know Tony is going to have some girls around.' I've dealt with that pressure and still do to some degree."

Steelers to get back on track

From nbcsports.msnbc.com:

PFT's Picks: Pittsburgh's lost four straight games — including to lowly Oakland — but that won't last. Not with the horrid Browns coming to town and with the Steelers' postseason on the line.

Rodgers moves into MVP talk -- not that you've noticed

From www.cbssports.com:

The latest example came when the Packers defeated Baltimore on Monday night. Rodgers threw two interceptions, but he also connected on at least a dozen throws that were so perfectly made, it looked like he could be Drew Brees and Peyton Manning's quarterback love child.

...

And this is the shame with Rodgers: He's mostly ignored in the media's MVP discussion because many in the press are in the bag for Brett Favre. So many writers have fetishized their Favre slobbering, they refuse to see just how great -- yes, great -- Rodgers is currently playing.

Faceoff: Saints strive for perfection?

From www.cbssports.com:

Saints coach Sean Payton has stated he will not rest key players down the stretch. Will the Saints complete the perfect regular season? Will going for 16-0 hurt the team in the playoffs?

...

This season the Patriots and Steelers have looked far less dominant than we're used to. How do you explain such significant dropoffs in two of the NFL's perennial powerhouses?

Eagles soar above rest when handicapping NFC East

From www.cbssports.com:

Why I like them: They're starting to peak at just the right time, which is typical of Andy Reid's clubs. I have to laugh when people ask about Reid's contract status. Of course he gets a contract extension. All the guy does is win. He's had the Eagles in five conference championship games the past eight seasons, and tell me what other coach puts that on his resume. I'm waiting. Get real, people. Reid's teams know how to reach the playoffs and how to win playoff games, so leave them alone.

The NFL's biggest rip-offs

From www.pheedcontent.com:

The NFL's version of Black Friday began last February on the first day of free agency and stretched through the offseason. Here's a look at some of the league's most overpaid players as we enter the season's home stretch.

...

Delhomme has failed to rebound from his dreadful performance in last year's playoffs. He also may have lost his starting spot to Matt Moore starting with Sunday's game at New England (Fox isn't saying). Peppers is the NFL's highest-paid defensive end but hasn't played at that level on anything close to a consistent basis.

Rodgers passes Packers to win

From nbcsports.msnbc.com:

"It wasn't pretty out there, but a win is a win," Packers wide receiver Donald Driver said. "We had to get this one to stay ahead in the playoff race."

Pack boost playoff hopes despite ugly, penalty-filled win

From www.cbssports.com:

Let's put it this way. The 310 combined penalty yards between Green Bay and Baltimore tied for second most in an NFL game. The Packers had 175 penalty yards, only 10 shy of a single-game franchise record.

That's how stupendously bad this game was. An ice pick wasn't needed for the 20-degree temperatures. An ice pick was needed to stab out your eyes.

Judgements: Steelers suffering without spirit of Troy

From www.cbssports.com:

1. That booing you heard in Pittsburgh was aimed at the Steelers' defense, and there's a reason: In five of the team's six losses this season the defense blew fourth-quarter leads. Forget Ben Roethlisberger. If Pittsburgh is to have any chance down the stretch safety Troy Polamalu absolutely must be on the field.

...

3. The big winner Sunday night wasn't Arizona; it was New Orleans. With Minnesota's defeat, the Saints move two games ahead in the push for home-field advantage in the playoffs. I know New Orleans hasn't lost anywhere, but their two closest calls -- Miami and Washington -- were road games. They desperately want to be home, and it looks as if they'll make it.
